I was reminded what next month is. Or I should say what February holds, Valentine’s Day. This is a holiday I could live without and I have a significant other. I look at it as another excuse for couples to buy each other stuff. Online sales of jewelry gifts are probably going to skyrocket over the next few weeks. I will probably be one of those people surfing the digital shelves for the best jewelry gifts deals. I’m not a curmudgeon or anything, Valentine’s Day just rubs me the wrong way. Many men have to feel the same way as me. Women are 50/50 on it. Some I have talked to can’t wait to get roses, skin creams, candies and loving jewelry gifts. Others look at it as another day.
No matter what my feelings are on it, since I have a significant other buying her something is a given. I am not going to be that guy who protests a holiday built around love. It would have me in the doghouse and never coming out. Been there before, escaped and not looking for ways to get back in. Finding a deal online and coming to Valentine’s Day with something in hand is the only option past breaking up. Hmmmmm.
